A missed opportunity. The rom/com nature of <em>'Khoobsurat'</em> kills it, for me. Don't get me wrong, what is produced isn't anything all that bad... but it ain't enjoyable either, at least for me. There's sizeable potential in the premise, namely on the side of Shekhar & Nirmala's story. Aamir Raza Husain and Ratna Pathak Shah are terrific in those aforementioned roles, there's so many possibilities with them. Instead, the film decides to head into the silly comedy realm instead of making use of a possibly strong narrative to create a very hearty production. With that said, for what does happen it isn't terrible. As noted I couldn't enjoy it enough, but Sonam K Ahuja (Mili) and Fawad Khan (Vikram) do alright. There are few good scenes between them, but it's mostly forgettable unfortunately. The music is decent, "Naina" does stick out. I can't say I'd recommend this, though you could do much worse I guess. I just would've loved a deeper story, especially with some pieces already in place for it to be so.
